A blockchain is a type of distributed ledger technology. It is a huge database formed by blocks,
cryptographically linked to each other, containing information such as transactions. These blocks are added
following a very precise and open-source protocol. The specificity of a blockchain is that it’s decentralized, everyone
can contribute by adding blocks, following predetermined rules. Crypto assets are the first viable application of
blockchain technology. There are two types of blockchains: public blockchains, in which everyone can participate.
And private blockchains, where participants are selected by the creator.
